The
lack of a properly structured employment tax oversight process
can result in significant tax exposure for an employer. Currently,
U.S. employers pay billions of dollars in federal and state employment
taxes every year. Meanwhile, the Internal Revenue Service and
state departments of revenue and labor have adopted more aggressive
enforcement initiatives to ensure compliance with their employment
and payroll tax requirements. Additionally, with the enactment
of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, there is a renewed emphasis on internal
controls and fiduciary responsibility.
Richard
Eagan started Eagan Company to provide affordable employment
tax advisory services to assist employers with the management
of their employment tax function. Mr. Eagan has extensive knowledge
of state and local taxes which he acquired through 18 years
of state and local tax management with a Fortune 500, multi-state
retail chain and over five years as employment tax leader with
Ernst & Young LLP (E&Y). At E&Y he provided employment
tax advisory services to a vast array of clients in the Buffalo,
Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Toledo Markets. Mr. Eagan’s
significant industry and public accounting experience has equipped
him
with both the practical and technical expertise required
for today’s employers.
